Our house (in the middle of the street)

We bought our first house!!
Ever since Mike transferred to a job in the suburbs last November, we have been wanting to move closer to both of our jobs. The Flower Mound/ Lantana area is a hot market right now, and all the homes in our price range sell in about a day. At the beginning of January, we got super lucky and happened to find out about a house in Lantana the morning it hit the market. ( We got an email at 1 am, and called the realtor at 6:45 when we woke up) We were both free, so we scheduled a showing for 9:30. We absolutely loved the house and it was in our price range, but it was also the first house we had ever looked at. We decided we wanted to make an offer. While we were mulling over our offer, our realtor found out that the house already had 12 showings scheduled for that day! (And it was a Tuesday!) We had our offer in by noon, and then we just had to wait. Practically the longest afternoon ever. Around 4:30 I got the call that the family accepted our offer & that the house would be ours in 30 days. We felt so blessed by the way everything worked out. (It was also pretty incredible that we fell in love with the first house we saw and our search was over- rare!)

We were drawn to Lantana because it is a master planned community on a golf course with multiple gyms, 5 swimming pools, hiking & biking trails, etc. The homeowners association even has a company that mows our lawn and does all our lawn maintenance for us.  Lantana is very safe with a super family friendly feel which will be perfect for our family. It seemed like the ideal place to raise a family and be stay at home mom. (No, I am not pregnant, just planning ahead). We live on a cul-de-sac, which is awesome because we can let Max roam the yard without a leash, and when we have kids we won't have to worry about too many cars driving by when they are out playing.
Mike's drive has been shortened from 40 minutes to 10, while the commute to my teaching job at TWU has been shortened from 1 hour to only 20 minutes, and my dental hygienist job shortened from 40 minutes to about 12. We no longer have to take any freeways and both have minimal traffic. We are also closer to all of my family who live in the area.

I tried to take a pano of our room but the colors turned out a little odd. We each have our own walk in closet, which is pretty nice. (I'm standing in mine to take the pictures, and Mike's is off of the master bath.)
Once we finish more rooms of the house, I will try to get pictures. Right now we have a craft room/ office and a work out room.

We want to find a long/skinny artwork to hang over our bed. Not sure what I am looking for yet.

Max loves his new yard. My parents are giving us their patio furniture, so pretty soon we will be snoozin in the sun, and not on the concrete.
The best (worst calorie wise) part of the house is that it is barely 2 miles away from Bahama Bucks.
This is going to be dangerous, but I can't complain too much.
We are so happy to be homeowners and so far completely love our new house. I have been running around making crafts and doing "home-owner" projects. Mike is turning into the handy man. Max hasn't changed too much. I would say life is good!
